Santos have accelerated Vila Belmiro’s overhaul during FIFA window, targeting completion in March 2027 with several upgrades due by December.

Progress accelerated after WTorre suspended its arena deal, led by Júnior Bozzella and engineered by Grupo CPR. Capacity is planned to reach about 25,000, according to Globo.com.

Phase one, for the 8 October visit of Flamengo, delivers refurbished toilets and upgrades to boxes and media areas. The lower main stand is being demolished to bring seats to pitch level with access. Hoardings will be in place and the stand will run at normal capacity.

By year end, phase two targets completing the stand rebuild and adding 56 boxes on top. Ground-floor boxes will go, cativa seats will reach pitch level, and lifts and access will follow. Two ends will be lowered with wider entry, and behind the side stand a concourse with food, toilets and retail will open, pending city approval.

Phase three will replace the pitch after December’s final Brasileirão match, installing a hybrid surface for an early January Paulista start. Neymar has criticised the turf, and the club says it needs urgent renewal.

Final delivery is due on 31 March 2027, lifting capacity to 23,000 to 25,000 and adding 24 boxes opposite. Further works include prefabricated suites, a revamped marble hall bar, and an autism-friendly room on Avenida Dom Pedro. Funding uses a receivables fund of up to R$100 million, repaid over 24 to 36 months from 80 boxes and 7,000 seats, about R$45 million a year.
