When Loic Mbe Soh joined Nottingham Forest from Paris Saint Germain, there was excitement about the potential of the defender.
However, as of yet, Mbe Soh has failed to carve himself out a place for himself in the Forest first team, making just 10 appearances for the club in league and cup competitions.
The 20-year-old centre back has not made a Nottingham Forest squad since September, which begs the question – is it time for Mbe Soh to go out on loan?
We asked FLW’s Nottingham Forest fan pundit Des Oldham for his thoughts on whether Forest would send the young defender out on loan this summer.
“Mbe Soh going out on loan probably depends on the movements of one or two of the other defenders.” Des told FLW.
“If Forest don’t get promoted, the possibility that Joe Worrall might leave, might happen. Also, it looks like Figurino’s contract is being run down and he’s perhaps heading back to Portugal.”

“That said, it would leave us particularly short and perhaps next season, along with Jonathan Panzo, there might be an opportunity for Mbe Soh to force his way in.”
“If Cooper really doesn’t fancy him and feels he needs more time, it would be the perfect time to send him out on loan.”
“At this stage of his career, I think Mbe Soh himself might be looking for first team football and to get his career going.”
The Verdict
Mbe Soh’s career appears to have stagnated – at least in terms of first team appearances – which is why a loan move for the young defender makes sense this summer.
This though, will likely depend on the movement of other defenders at Nottingham Forest.
One thing is for certain – Mbe Soh will not develop and fulfil his potential if he does not start getting regular first team football soon.
It is time for the young defender to start playing senior football matches and progressing his career – whether it be at Nottingham Forest or elsewhere.
