The Pilgrims are vying to get back to winning ways after enduring successive defeats at the hands of play-off chasers Stockport County and automatic promotion candidates Lincoln City.

Blackpool sit four points below Argyle in the third tier, so they should prove less problematic for Cleverley's men than the Hatters and the Imps were.

Meanwhile, Plymouth have had to cope without the services of influential players such as club top scorer Lorent Tolaj in recent weeks, courtesy of injury problems.

Cleverley's side have failed to earn a League One victory since their 1-0 win over Luton Town on 24 January, partly thanks to significant absences.

But speaking to BBC Radio Devon, the former Watford boss revealed that Tolaj, Conor Hazard, Brendan Galloway, and Bradley Ibrahim are set to return to action in time for the clash against Blackpool this weekend.

Tolaj has been a particularly strong asset for Plymouth this term, notching 12 goals and four assists in 24 League One appearances.

Meanwhile, Cleverley revealed in his Radio Devon interview that Hazard remains his first-choice goalkeeper, having maintained seven clean sheets in the third tier this season.

The presence of Galloway, who scored the winning goal in the aforementioned triumph over Luton, will also bolster Argyle's backline, whereas Ibrahim can strengthen the midfield.

Ibrahim has proven his quality both in and out of possession since joining Plymouth last summer, scoring three goals and producing two assists in 13 league outings.

As per FotMob, the 21-year-old has completed 77.8% of the dribbles he has attempted in the third tier this term, while he has also created five big chances, showing that he can help his side break Blackpool down.

Plymouth Argyle must defeat Blackpool to stave off relegation threat

Argyle's back-to-back losses against Stockport and Lincoln leave them just five points clear of the relegation zone with 16 League One fixtures remaining.

The Home Park club are also only six points ahead of second-bottom Rotherham United and 22nd-place Wigan Athletic.

Favourably for the Pilgrims, neither the Millers nor the Latics have a league fixture this weekend, as the Greater Manchester Club are playing top-flight leaders Arsenal in the FA Cup fourth round this Sunday.

Burton Albion and Port Vale are also in cup action this weekend, meaning that Plymouth have the opportunity to gain a bigger lead over all the clubs currently occupying the relegation places.

However, Rotherham and Burton face each other in League One on Tuesday, 17 February, which puts extra pressure on Cleverley's men to defeat Blackpool on Saturday.

The Devon outfit began the season with aspirations of landing an immediate Championship return, but must instead stave off the threat of relegation to League Two before eyeing up a late play-off push.

Tolaj, Hazard, Galloway, and Ibrahim may all be called upon by Cleverley to ensure that Plymouth earn a much-needed victory against Blackpool.
