Torino midfielder Ivan Ilic was taken off with a troubling-looking knee injury during the first half of Serbia’s World Cup qualifier away against England at Wembley on Thursday evening.
The 24-year-old Granata midfielder had to be helped off the pitch with what looked to be a serious knee injury after 36 minutes of the England vs. Serbia qualifier. Broadcasters ITV deemed the incident to be so severe, that they did not show any replays of the incident.
Ilic lost the ball on the edge of his own area, which led to a Marcus Rashford shot, and appeared to catch his studs in the turf in the process.
He immediately clutched at his knee, collapsed to the floor in pain, and required in-depth treatment from the medical staff on the pitch.

It was England’s Rashford who was the first to notice the pain that Ilic was in, and immediately gestured towards the dugouts for the medical staff to come on after getting his shot away.
Ilic was replaced by Club Brugge’s Aleksander Stankovic after 36 minutes.
There were several other familiar Serie A faces in the Serbia line-up, including Milan’s Strahinja Pavlovic and Juventus pair Filip Kostic and Dusan Vlahovic. Atalanta’s Lazar Samardzic also came on as a second-half substitute.
