However, City executives are refusing to approve a sale, largely due to their desire to secure a replacement first.

Savinho did not take part in Thursday’s training session. While that is reportedly down to illness, his desire to leave the Etihad Stadium in search of regular first-team football remains unwavering.

After making just seven Premier League starts last season, the Brazilian winger sees a move to Spurs as the ideal environment to further his development under Roberto De Zerbi.

De Zerbi has already overseen a major squad overhaul exceeding £230m but maintains that Tottenham’s rebuild is incomplete without attacking reinforcements.

With personal terms broadly agreed between Tottenham and Savinho’s representatives, the final step depends on Man City sanctioning the move.
