In a recent report, journalist Pete O’Rourke claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are showing interest in Benfica winger Andreas Schjelderup. It has been mentioned that Spurs are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the Norwegian talent later this year.

Schjelderup’s Impressive Form In Portuguese Football

Schjelderup enjoyed a good run of form at the Portuguese club in the previous campaign when he put in a run of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 22-year-old found the back of the net ten times and earned seven assists in 43 matches for Benfica last season on all fronts.

The Norwegian talent is currently among the most talented wide players in Liga Portugal. Hence, Spurs would do well to get a deal done for him later this year.

His current contract at the Portuguese club will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it difficult for Tottenham to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

Is Schjelderup A Good Fit For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Roberto De Zerbi?

Schjelderup is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with it out in the wide areas. He has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the final third and can shoot the ball with power from long range.

The Norwegian talent can even chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals in the final third. Schjelderup is primarily a left-winger but can also serve as a left-sided wide player if asked to do so. However, it remains to be seen whether he can adapt to the physical style and high intensity of the Premier League if Spurs manage to sign him later this year.

We can expect Schjelderup to bring more quality and depth to Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi’s attack in the long run. He has what it takes to fight for a regular starting spot at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next season.

At 22, the future looks quite bright for Schjelderup as long as he continues to improve with each year. However, De Zerbi has to give him some time to adjust to life at the North London club before he can get the best out of the player.
