Anthony Nwakaeme will be forced to sit out for the next two months as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

The Nigerian winger picked up the injury during Trabzonspor’s 1-0 victory over Kocaelispor on the opening matchday of the Turkish league.

Substituted in the 84th minute of the game, the 36-year-old underwent an MRI, which revealed a tear, bleeding, and widespread swelling of the muscle and posterior tendon in his left thigh.

The Trabzon club has wished its player a speedy recovery, with Nwakaeme set to miss several competitive fixtures at the start of the season.

Back at the club last summer after a stint in Saudi Arabia, the former Nigerian international featured in 27 matches across all competitions last season, scoring 2 goals and providing 5 assists.
