Trent Alexander-Arnold reveals thoughts on Anfield reception ahead of Liverpool return | OneFootball

Trent Alexander-Arnold has vowed not to celebrate if he scores against Liverpool on his first return to Anfield since his summer sale. The Liverpudlian and right-back is set to face his former club with Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Alexander-Arnold, who said he would always love Liverpool, admitted he never expected to be in the away dressing room at Anfield and said he would be careful he did not accidentally go into the home one with his former teammates.

“I'll be very focused on which way I go, I don't want any of those type of clips,” he told Prime Video Sport. “That will be a big difference, going into the away dressing room and warming up on the other side, everything will feel a lot different but it is all part of the game.”

Alexander-Arnold scored 23 goals in his 354 games for Liverpool and is yet to open his account for Real but said: “If I was to score I wouldn't celebrate if I'm honest, no.”

The former Liverpool vice-captain was booed by some of the club’s fans at Anfield in April’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal after he announced he would leave in the summer, with the Premier League champions eventually receiving an £8.4m transfer fee.

He is not sure if he will receive a similar reception again but added: “Whichever way I'm received is the decision of the fans. I'll always love the club, I'll always be a fan and be thankful for the opportunities and the things we achieved together. It will live with me forever. No matter what, my feelings won't change towards Liverpool.”

Alexander-Arnold also revealed he talked to three of his old teammates after Liverpool drew Real, in Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson.
