World champions in 1999 in Nigeria, Spain returns to the final stage of the U20 World Cup with the ambition of reclaiming the crown.
- Spain is taking part in its 16th U20 World Cup final stage.
- La Roja missed the last four editions and has not featured in the tournament since Turkey 2013 (quarter-finals).
Spain secured their U20 World Cup berth by reaching the second round of the U19 Euro, following a hard-fought draw against France (2-2) on matchday 3.
