U21s Preview: Whites to face Middlesbrough | OneFootball

Leeds United Under-21s will make the short trip up the A1 on Sunday to face Teesside outfit Middlesbrough Under-21s in the Premier League 2.

Scott Gardner’s side have played twice so far in the league this campaign, beginning with an enthralling 4-3 victory over West Bromwich Albion U21s at Thorp Arch.

Then, despite a positive display on Merseyside in which United took the lead, Liverpool U21s fought back to snatch a 2-1 win.

During the week, attentions turned to the National League Cup where a goal from Harvey Vincent and well-taken Freddie Lane brace fired the Whites to a 3-2 success over Solihull Moors in the West Midlands.

Sunday’s hosts have lost both of their PL2 matches so far this term, beginning with a narrow 1-0 defeat at home against Norwich City U21s.

Boro followed that one up with a 3-1 loss at AFC Bournemouth U21s but the team have been in scintillating form in the National League Cup, winning all three games to date to top Group C with one fixture remaining.

That included a remarkable 10-0 victory over neighbouring Hartlepool United, where forward Frankie Coulson netted five times.
