UCV overhaul squad before Santos tie in Copa Sudamericana | OneFootball

UCV have reshaped their squad during the World Cup pause ahead of a Copa Sudamericana play-off against Santos. Five players have been released and reinforcements are under way.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the departures are centre-backs Rubén Ramírez and Adrian Martinez, holding midfielder Carlos Cermeno, left winger Juan Manuel Cuesta and centre forward Jovanny Bolivar.

Cuesta was the club’s top scorer in the Copa Libertadores group stage with three goals, and has joined Sporting Cristal in Peru. Bolivar also scored in the continental competition, and his loan at Albacete in Spain has ended. Ramírez has moved to Iraq.

On Sunday the club began unveiling signings. The first confirmed addition was 29-year-old midfielder Williams Lugo from Persipura Jayapura in Indonesia. The next expected to be announced is forward Edwin Mosquera, most recently at Independiente Santa Fé, with previous spells at Juventude in Brazil and Defensa y Justicia in Argentina.

UCV host Santos in the first leg on 21 July. The return is at Vila Belmiro on 28 July.
