UD Castellonense sealed promotion to Segunda RFEF, winning their group with a game to spare after victory at Hércules B and At. Levante’s stumble.

According to Superdeporte, the Vilanova de Castelló club, population around 7,000, celebrated long into the night.

Iñaki Rodríguez’s side won 4-1 at the Antonio Valls in Alicante, with goals from Agus, Iker, Joe and Siscar. Atlético Levante lost 1-0 to Villarreal C, confirming automatic promotion with no play-off required.

The campaign has exceeded expectations after president Miguel Ángel Pla Caldes built an ambitious squad. The title also books a place in next season’s Copa del Rey.

Their dominance is clear, 20 wins, seven draws and only six defeats, with 56 scored and 29 conceded. Much of the squad is local, including captain Marcos Castells, former Valencia CF player Carlos Badal, the division’s best centre-back, midfielder Jesús Prats, and Agustín Murillo and Marc Abril, brother of Valencia’s under-21 international goalkeeper Vicent Abril.

Striker Iker Garijo, from Jarafuel, previously rescued the team then spent time at At. Levante before returning to his home club to fire 18 goals. It is the first success of this kind in the town since the 1950s.
