The Egyptian club Al Ahly was caught off guard by the absence of their midfielder Emam Ashour, who did not join the club's delegation departing for Tanzania, despite being named in the squad for the match against Young Africans, part of the CAF Champions League (2025-2026 season).

According to sources within the club, the player failed to show up at the airport at the scheduled time and did not provide any prior explanation to the team officials. This situation sparked astonishment within the "Red" delegation, as they await an official statement to clarify the reasons behind this unexpected absence.

Yet, on Wednesday night, Al Ahly had released the squad list for this continental clash, and Emam Ashour's name was included.

According to the Egyptian outlet (Erem News), citing a source close to the player, Emam Ashour's absence was due to a delay caused by oversleeping, which prevented him from joining the delegation in time.

The Al Ahly delegation left Cairo at 7:30 am (GMT) en route to Tanzania, where the team will face Young Africans on their home turf and in front of their fans.

In the group standings, Al Ahly leads Group B with 7 points, ahead of Young Africans who are second with 4 points, in a group that also includes Morocco's AS FAR and Algeria's JS Kabylie.
