Unión 90% into the last 16: just need Instituto not to win by seven

This Monday, the final standings of the regular phase of the Apertura Tournament will be determined, as the postponed ninth round is completed. With three matches, the round of 16 pairings will be set. Defensa y Justicia was unable to take Unión’s place as 8th in Zone A, while Vélez needs to win by seven goals to knock Boca Juniors out of second place.

In Mendoza, Gimnasia beat Defensa y Justicia 2-1. Starting at 7:15 p.m. in Liniers, Vélez will host Newell’s, and at 9:30 p.m. Estudiantes de Río Cuarto will wrap things up in the Interzonal clash. If La Gloria does not win by seven goals, Tate will play the round of 16 away to Independiente Rivadavia next Saturday.
