Yuki Ohashi won it in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time with a glancing header, giving Blackburn Rovers a 1-0 win over Preston North End.
Off the bench, Ohashi immediately carried a threat. He forced David Cornell into a low save with a close-range header after Ryoya Morishita's cross.
The decisive moment arrived in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time, when Ohashi met Eiran Cashin's delivery and guided his header into the roof of the net.
He finished with two attempts, both on target, drew two fouls and regained possession twice. He also completed six of seven passes, including four in the final third, underlining sharp movement and clean execution.
With Morishita and Cashin supplying width, his near-post runs kept Preston's back line reactive and offered Blackburn a clear outlet in a tight game.
Blackburn Rovers rise from 20th to 19th and host Bristol City next. Preston remain eighth and visit Swansea City.
