A fresh insight into the injury timeline facing sidelined Barcelona star Pedri has on Tuesday been forthcoming online.

Midfielder Pedri, of course, recently picked up yet another fitness problem, whilst lining out for Spain at the European Championships.

Owing to a heavy challenge on the part of Toni Kroos, the 21-year-old was forced into a premature departure from his country’s quarter-final showdown with Germany.

He was subsequently diagnosed with a knee injury, albeit the extent of which was not immediately made clear.

As alluded to above, though, on Tuesday, further details surrounding Pedri’s wellbeing have come to the fore.

And, unfortunately for those of a Barcelona persuasion, the news is far from positive.

As per a statement across the Blaugrana’s website and social media platforms, the club’s engine room standout has suffered ‘a left knee sprain’.

Though Barcelona have provided little further information when it comes to Pedri’s recovery timeline, an insight into as much has since been provided, by Javier Miguel of Diario AS.

Miguel points towards the Spaniard as being set for a spell of around five weeks on the sidelines, adding that the injury, precisely, is ‘a sprained internal lateral ligament of the left knee’.

Pedri will therefore play no part in Barca’s pre-season tour of the USA, and is also considered as highly unlikely to be available for the club’s La Liga season opener against Valencia.
