There’s some mixed news for Arsenal fans as Sunday’s big game against Manchester City approaches.
The Gunners are optimistic that Sead Kolašinac will overcome the issue that saw him limp off during the weekend defeat of Swansea City.
However, Shkodran Mustafi is no longer expected to make it.
Mustafi picked up a groin injury during the last international break and there were suggestions he could make a comeback at the Etihad Stadium but that now seems less likely, meaning compatriot Per Mertesacker is likely to keep his place.
So far this season, Manchester City have scored more than any side in Europe and enjoyed the best start to a campaign in Premier League history, with nine wins and a draw from 10 matches.
It’s hardly the sort of opponent you want to face without two first-choice defenders.
Should Kolašinac not regain fitness in time, Nacho Monreal would likely play at left-back, leaving the Gunners short in the middle of the defence.
