FC Nantes has decided to shake things up in their fight for survival. After suffering a home defeat to Angers (0-1), the Canaries’ management parted ways with Ahmed Kantari, whose stint on the bench lasted only a few months.

To try and turn around a very delicate sporting situation, the Nantes board turned to a familiar face: Vahid Halilhodzic. At 73 years old, the Bosnian tactician is coming out of several years of inactivity since leaving the Moroccan national team in 2022.

The former coach of the Atlas Lions knows the Nantes club inside out. A former striker for the team in the 1980s, he already managed the squad during the 2018-2019 season, finishing 12th in Ligue 1. His mission is now crystal clear: save FC Nantes with just nine matches left in the season.
