Andoni Ochotorena to lead Valencia goalkeepers as Aguirre begins | OneFootball

Andoni Ochotorena has been appointed Valencia’s first-team goalkeeping coach, taking charge of Dimitrievski, Van Oevelen and Rivero.

According to AS, Javier Aguirre will be presented this morning, with his first full week of training to start at 18:00. He has already been working since last week with assistant Toni Amor and fitness coach Pol Lorente.

Ochotorena, son of José Manuel who died in October 2025, steps up after three seasons as assistant. He first supported his father as head goalkeeping coach, then worked with Marcos Abad during Carlos Corberán’s tenure.

The club requested Ochotorena’s promotion and Aguirre has accepted it. The Mexican coach had Joseba Ituarte in his usual staff, including during his spell with the Mexico national team, but at Valencia he will entrust the goalkeepers to Ochotorena.

Born in 1989, Ochotorena has spent more than a decade at the club, starting in the academy before joining the first-team set-up. He now honours his father’s memory from the place he loved most, between the posts, and the club has recognised his recent work and professionalism, handing him full responsibility in this area.
