According to AS, Valencia and Javier Aguirre have reached agreement, with paperwork due to be signed in the coming hours. Barring a setback, the club plan to confirm the appointment after Sunday's match against Real Sociedad. He has previously managed Osasuna, Atlético de Madrid, Real Zaragoza, Espanyol and Real Mallorca.
Braulio Vázquez and Aguirre's agency closed the deal after both sides made concessions. Aguirre will sign until 30 June, and the contract will roll on for a further year if Europa League qualification is achieved via LaLiga.
Valencia initially wanted that trigger only for Champions League qualification. Aguirre will also tailor his salary to the club's current means, below his recent terms at Mallorca and with Mexico, with details still to be written.
The agreement is due to be formalised on Sunday afternoon in Spain, which is morning in Mexico. Aguirre will then join the squad in the coming days.
With LaLiga pausing for three weeks for internationals, he plans a mini pre-season and expects to work with almost all of his players, except Dimitrievski and Sato. He is, in principle, expected to arrive with fitness coach Pol Llorente, though Valencia have not finalised anything with him.
