Valencia completed Wednesday’s session at the Ciutat Esportiva de Paterna ahead of Thursday’s Copa del Rey last-16 tie at Burgos, kick-off 21:00. According to Superdeporte, the workout delivered encouraging updates at a delicate stage of the season.

José Luis Gayà and César Tárrega trained with the group and are in contention to be available for this decisive cup match. Both have shaken off minor issues after managed workloads, offering Carlos Corberán options in two sensitive positions.

Mouctar Diakhaby, Thierry Correia and Julen Agirrezabala continued individual recovery work apart from the squad, focused on returning in the best condition. Diakhaby will not return this season and the club is urgently seeking to reinforce centre-back in the winter window. More than five or six weeks will need to pass before the goalkeeper and the right-back can be in contention in La Liga.

The rest of the group completed a normal session with tactical and activation drills in a highly focused environment. Academy defenders were involved to cover shortages.

Goalkeeper Vicent Abril and centre-backs Rubén Iranzo and Alejandro Panach trained with the first team and have a strong chance of making the squad for Burgos. Corberán has not turned to attacking options from the reserves, with 18-year-old playmaker Víctor Fernández not involved this week.

With Valencia in the relegation zone, the trip to El Plantío is viewed as a chance to shift momentum, build confidence and push on in a competition that has long mattered to the club. Burgos CF will be a demanding test, but the mood improved after timely boosts in training.
