Valencia have confirmed Mouctar Diakhaby has suffered a significant left adductor injury, ruling the centre-back out.

The club said in a statement that the defender has damaged the long adductor in his left leg, sustained in the match against Barcelona at Mestalla. He will follow a medical, physiotherapy and readaptation programme at the Ciudad Deportiva until clinical improvement allows him to rejoin the squad.

No timescale was given, but the recovery process will be at least one month.

He will therefore miss the pre-break fixtures against Sevilla, Alavés and Real Sociedad.

If his progress is positive, the intention is for him to return in Racing de Santander v Valencia on 11 October after the international break.
