Valencia’s outgoing business is effectively on hold, with Dani Raba and Baptiste Santamaria resisting deadline-day departures. The club has all but ruled out the exit needed to pursue a signing who would not necessarily have to be under-23.

One player has even rejected a top-flight option, with Cope Valencia reporting the interested club was Real Oviedo. Valencia waited until the final day in case injuries or unexpected sales elsewhere prompted late moves, that has not materialised.

Both trained as normal on Monday at Paterna, a sign there are no advanced negotiations and that neither intends to leave.

Carlos Corberán sent a message to Raba by leaving him out of the LaLiga squad to face Betis at La Cartuja. The playmaker stayed in Valencia and did not travel to Seville, without shifting his stance.

Santamaria, also reluctant to go in January, came on in the second half against Betis as both the match and the window entered their final stretch. The team then paid heavily for a lack of fluency and competitive edge.
