Valencia are negotiating with Renzo Saravia to cover Dimitri Foulquier’s long-term absence at right-back. Head coach Carlos Corberán has confirmed the club are targeting reinforcements, and Saravia, 32, is unattached after leaving Atlético Mineiro in January.
According to Tribuna Deportiva, talks with the Argentine and his representatives aim to register him once Foulquier is deregistered. Post-surgery reports say Foulquier faces more than four months out, so LaLiga approval is not expected to be an obstacle.
Chief executive Ron Gourlay is driving the move, though progress has been slow. The main obstacle is the length of the contract.
Saravia wants a deal beyond 30 June, guaranteeing at least the chance to play in 2026/27. Valencia are offering four and a half months to season’s end, preferring to reassess in summer when Thierry Rendall’s expiring contract must also be addressed.
Despite complications, negotiations remain open. Saravia’s camp are weighing a short-term showcase until June against waiting for summer to seek a longer free-agent deal. The next hours will indicate whether positions can be bridged and the stalemate broken.
