Valentin Carboni has sustained another serious knee injury, suffering a complete rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and a partial tear of the collateral ligament in his right knee. He is to undergo surgery in Argentina and is expected to be sidelined for at least eight months, according to TycSports.

The 20-year-old Inter Milan youngster, on loan at Racing Club in Argentina, was injured during a training session. It comes 18 months after a major left-knee injury during his loan spell at Marseille.

Game time at Racing has been limited, with only 206 minutes across five appearances so far.

Last season he endured a mixed loan at Genoa, playing 15 matches and scoring one goal.

This latest setback leaves the Argentina international, capped three times, facing another long rehabilitation and uncertainty over his immediate future.
