Vasco have confirmed forward Brenner has suffered a ligament injury in his left foot. He is expected to be sidelined for about one month and will miss Thursday's Copa Sudamericana meeting with Olimpia.

According to Globo.com, Cuesta and Andrés Gómez have no confirmed injuries but will be held back for the same game, while Jair is being rested.

Brenner sustained the problem in Sunday's 0-0 draw with Bahia at Arena Fonte Nova, feeling pain after a collision with a defender and taken off at half-time. Early tests ruled out a fracture but revealed a serious injury that required further evaluation.

Surgery on a tendon with a specialist was considered, which would have sidelined him for four months. After assessment, he has initially chosen the conservative route.

He will also sit out fixtures against Santos in the Brasileirão and Vitória in the Copa do Brasil quarter-finals.

The blow comes during Brenner's best spell for Vasco. He had secured the starting role up front and scored twice in the 3-1 win over Fluminense that sealed progress to the Copa do Brasil quarter-finals.

In his absence, Pedro Emanuel must find a fresh solution at centre forward. Spinelli and David are the leading options, while Facundo Colidio, signed this window to operate centrally or wide, is not registered for the Copa Sudamericana.
