According to Globo.com, Vasco have partnered with Casa do Marinheiro to make it the new training centre for the club’s women’s teams, covering the first team and the academy.
The club have long aimed to integrate the women’s first team and academy. A similar plan for the men is expected to happen only after the refurbishment of CT Moacyr Barbosa.
General coordinator Simone Lourenço said the move would optimise facilities and staff, allowing all women’s football work to be carried out in one location. Previously, the academy trained in Deodoro while the first team used São Januário, Artsul and Caxias.
She added that the change would cut travel time and improve rest, fostering closer work between academy and seniors under a shared philosophy. Vasco want Under-20 players involved with the first team more often and are implementing a wider development policy.
Manoel Cruz, director at Ares Casa do Marinheiro, welcomed the partnership, saying it supports women’s football and offers a new activity for members. He believes girls who see the sessions may be inspired, and some might one day play for Vasco.
The professional squad’s daily operations are expected to move to the site at the end of March. The academy have already begun training there.
