Talks over a sale of Vasco da Gama SAF to businessman Marcos Lamacchia have drawn the attention of national regulators, with ANRESF set to scrutinise any deal under the SSF introduced by the CBF in 2026. Extra focus stems from Lamacchia being the son of José Carlos Lamacchia and the stepson of Leila Pereira, the Palmeiras president whose term runs to December 2027.
Uol reports that the CBF sent an informal notice to Vasco SAF and Palmeiras about a potential conflict of interest under multi-club rules. The framework bans simultaneous control or significant influence over more than one team, including the power to set financial policy, hold material vetoes, appoint administrators or own more than 10% of voting rights.
“O que a gente percebe lá fora é que a análise desse tipo de caso pode se tornar muito complicada.” said ANRESF president Caio Resende to ge.
León were excluded from the FIFA Club World Cup over an ownership conflict with Pachuca, clubs from the same group. “O caso do Pachuca e do León é uma decisão de 40 páginas, em que se analisou o processo decisório. Qualquer caso concreto, eu nem posso opinar porque eu posso ser instigado a votar sobre o tema numa decisão da agência.”
Options include suspending the buyer’s voting and veto rights while Pereira is in office, a blind trust, or an initial stake below 10%, with association president Pedrinho potentially taking an active governance role.
