Vasco will stage a series of tributes to club icon Roberto Dinamite at São Januário when they face São Paulo at 18:30 on Saturday in round 13 of the Campeonato Brasileiro.

Dinamite would have turned 72 on Monday, and the club have invited his relatives to attend and join special activities, Globo.com reports.

São Januário will be draped in his image and slogan, which will also feature across Vasco's social media hours before kick-off.

A tribute will take place on the pitch minutes before kick-off, with his relatives involved.

Carlos Roberto de Oliveira was born on 13 April 1954 in Duque de Caxias, Rio de Janeiro. The moniker Roberto Dinamite dates to 25 November 1971 at the Maracanã, when the 17-year-old scored his first Vasco goal in a 2-0 win over Internacional and a newspaper headline effectively sealed the nickname.

That strike was the first of 708 for Vasco in 1,110 games, and the first of his record 190 in the Campeonato Brasileiro. With Vasco he won the Brasileiro in 1974 and five Carioca titles in 1977, 1982, 1987, 1988 and 1992.
