Vasco will stage Wednesday’s Copa do Brasil quarter-final against Vitória at 21h30 at São Januário, having dropped plans to use the Maracanã. The club announced the switch on Monday morning.
Members can buy tickets from 14h on Monday, with general sale from 20h, Brasília time. The Maracanã concessionaire says there is no restriction on Vasco, noting the club have used the ground six times since April 2025, and that this request was refused because the date falls within a full pitch maintenance window.
Vasco had sought to play the match at the Maracanã, but Flamengo and Fluminense, who manage the stadium, vetoed the request. The board went to court to try to secure the venue, but the move did not succeed.
In its filing, the club argued the Maracanã is a public asset and has a far greater capacity than São Januário. It also cited demand, with the last four fixtures at São Januário each issuing more than 17,000 tickets, including 21,254 against Olimpia and 21,228 against Santos.
This fixture is the first leg of the tie.
