Unai Vencedor’s future remains unresolved as August progresses and no exit has been agreed. The Athletic midfielder had been the only contracted player training separately with a club-appointed fitness coach, with Edin Terzic instead looking at Canales, Rego, Gerenabarrena and Selton.
He has now returned to the club’s base, completed physical tests on Tuesday, and will maintain fitness there until a destination is set. According to as.com, interest has been building across the Segunda, with Real Oviedo among those keen.
Vencedor was a regular under Julián Calero during his loan at Levante until Calero was dismissed, after which Castro moved him to the bench.
He had not figured under Ernesto Valverde either. The Rekalde-born pivot is contracted until June 2027 and has taken successive loans at Eibar, Racing and Levante, with no assured return.
He is pushing to secure a place in a Primera club to continue his career, which remains his aim. He managed to clinch a move late last summer with Levante.
There has also been interest from abroad, notably from Greece and the Netherlands. He prefers Spanish football and has rejected some overseas offers.
