Leicester City face a defensive dilemma for Watford on Boxing Day, with Jannik Vestergaard a doubt after a head knock and Caleb Okoli close to returning from a knee injury.
According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, Vestergaard had played every minute of the Championship before Saturday’s 4-1 defeat at QPR, but he was withdrawn in the second half after taking a first-half blow to the head at Loftus Road and has not trained in the build-up to the King Power Stadium fixture on Boxing Day.
If he does not make it, Wout Faes and Okoli could vie to take his spot alongside Ben Nelson. Faes has been on the bench recently, while Okoli is back in full training and could make his first appearance in more than a month after seven games out. The Italian was injured late in the mid-November win at Norwich, with scans confirming a knee issue.
If Vestergaard is unavailable, he would join Patson Daka, away with Zambia at the Africa Cup of Nations, plus Victor Kristiansen, Harry Souttar and Boubakary Soumare, none of whom are in full training. That would make five absentees, effectively six with Harry Winks unlikely to be considered for selection again.
There is scope for Aaron Ramsey and Jeremy Monga to start after returning from injury at QPR. Ramsey played 25 minutes in his first outing since October, while Monga looked good in the final 15 minutes at Loftus Road.
