Victor Osimhen’s flying start at Galatasaray continued with a historic scoring landmark in a 3-2 Trendyol Süper Lig win at İstanbul Başakşehir, before an early substitution cut his afternoon short.
The Nigerian opened the scoring at the Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium with a superb long-range strike, his sixth of the domestic campaign. According to Turkish-Football.com, medical staff will conduct MRI scans to determine the extent of the problem.
Osimhen’s haul has invited comparisons with Mario Jardel’s explosive arrival in 2000-01, when the Brazilian hit seven goals in his first four league games. With six goals and three assists in four matches, Osimhen is the first foreign signing in 25 years to reach six within the opening four weeks.
After an intense pressing duel, the 27-year-old felt discomfort, signalled to the bench in the 33rd minute and was replaced by Barış Alper Yılmaz.
His exit tempered a standout display, as Galatasaray now focus on their upcoming UEFA Champions League main phase schedule.
