Bahrain third, Sudan eliminated

Algeria sealed their place in the quarter finals of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 after defeating Iraq 2 - 0 on Tuesday at Khalifa International Stadium.. a result that secured top spot in Group D.
The reigning champions finish the group stage with seven point, one ahead of Iraq who qualify as runners up with six point.
Bahrain placed 3rd with three point while Sudan exited the competition with one.
The match turned dramatically after just four minute when Iraqi midfielder Hussein Ali Al Saedi sent off for reckless challenge on Yacine Brahimi.
Qatari referee initially showed yellow but upgraded the decision to straight red after consulting VAR.
Moments later , the referee cancelled Algerian penalty when Yassine Benzia stepped up to shoot with VAR confirming offside infringement by Mohamed Amine Tougai.
Just before halftime.. central defender Tougai rose highest to head home precise cross from Redouane Berkane in 45+1.
Algeria doubled the lead almost immediately after the restart. A dangerous cross from Brahimi caused chaos inside the Iraqi box resulting in own goal from defender Saad Natiq in the 46 minute.
In the other Group D fixture, Bahrain defeated Sudan 3 - 1 to finish third. Goals from Mahdi Abduljabbar, Mohamed Al Romaihi & Mahdi Al Humaidan sealed victory while Yasser Muzammil scored Sudan’s only goal.
Sudan exit with just one point collected in the opening round against Algeria.
