Villarreal B will be without leading scorer Álex Rubio for Saturday's trip to second-placed Atlético Madrileño. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the Madrid-born forward is suspended after receiving his fifth yellow card against Cartagena at the Mini Estadi, and he has eight goals this league campaign.

David Albelda is also without the injured Barry. This week Hugo López has trained with the first team under Marcelino García.

This week has also seen the departures of Luis Quintero, Víctor Navarro and Álex Quevedo.

Winter addition Ayman Arguigue, who debuted against Cartagena, is not ruled out of a starting place.

Fellow winter recruit Ettienne Eto’o could make his debut, possibly in the second half. The departure of midfielder Curro Muñoz remains to be finalised.
