Logan Costa recently underwent surgery in Madrid after suffering a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The Cape Verdean defender will miss the start of the 2025/26 season with Villarreal in La Liga.

Villarreal's central defender sustained a serious injury to his left knee during the first pre-season match. The incident occurred in Oviedo on July 19 against FC Basel, where Costa collapsed while clutching his knee. Medical tests conducted the following day confirmed a complete anterior cruciate ligament rupture. Logan Costa went under the knife on August 5. The operation was performed by doctors Manuel Leyes and Antonio Maestro at the Olympia Medical-Surgical Center, under the supervision of the club's medical staff, according to the Spanish club.

The 24-year-old Cape Verde international now faces a recovery period estimated at seven months, putting his participation in most of the 2025–2026 season in jeopardy. It's a heavy blow for the Yellow Submarine. Since joining Villarreal in the summer of 2024, Logan Costa has played 34 matches in all competitions, finding the net twice.
