Villarreal are preparing to reshape their midfield this summer, with Guido remaining the preferred option but alternatives under review.
Among those options are Luis Milla of Getafe and Alavés midfielder Antonio Blanco. SER reports that both names are on the list. Milla is under contract at Getafe until 2027, while Blanco has one year left.
Guido has impressed since joining Valencia in January, and his deal runs only until the end of the season. Valencia are seeking an extension, but the team’s current level may lack the pull that Villarreal and Real Betis can offer, with both clubs having scouted him at the Martínez Valero.
Villarreal’s engine room is set for change. Thomas Partey is not in the plans and Dani Parejo will end his stint at 37, with a decision pending on whether he retires to start coaching or seeks a final move. His future lies in the dugout regardless.
Santi Comesaña and Pape Gueye are counted on for now, although significant offers are expected for the Senegalese midfielder and could bring in a sizeable fee. Marcelino García Toral will therefore need several additions in the centre, and more than one of the alternatives could arrive. Milla and Blanco offer contrasting but complementary profiles.
