Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. has on Tuesday secured for himself a piece of European football history.

This comes owing to the Brazilian’s appearance in his side’s latest outing.

Real Madrid are of course currently locked in action on the continent, in a Champions League clash with Kazakh outfit Kairat.

Fresh off a Madrid Derby humiliation at the hands of Atlético over the weekend, Xabi Alonso opted to heavily alter his XI for the evening.

Maintaining his status as a starter, though, was the aforementioned Vinícius.

The 25-year-old, responsible for a brilliant assist in the derby, joined Franco Mastantuono and Kylian Mbappé in a talent-packed frontline.

And as alluded to above, in the process of taking to the pitch on Tuesday, ‘Viní’ etched his name into the history books.

As revealed by statisticians ‘Statsdufoot’ on ‘X’:

‘Vinicius Junior (25 years and 80 days) has become the 2nd youngest player to reach 70 matches in the Champions League, after Iker Casillas (24 years and 277 days).’
