Much of Chivas Femenil's great performance in the second half of the 2025 Apertura can be explained by the versatility that its players have adopted since the arrival of coach Antonio Contreras. This, in addition to fostering competition within the squad, brings new possibilities to both the team and the coach when it comes to resolving match situations.
One of the players who has best performed this role and contributed to the Rojiblanco attack is Viridiana Salazar. The former Pachuca player is in her fourth tournament as a Rebaño player, and since her arrival she has undergone a constant evolution in her position on the field.
'Viri' spent most of her career as a number 9 with the Hidalgo team, but faced with competition for that position, she has managed to exploit other strengths during her time with Guadalajara. Her dribbling ability allows her to play in different positions on the field, and when combined with her speed, this makes her the perfect weapon for attacking down the wings.
Salazar has even played as a second striker, accompanying 'Licha' Cervantes, which gives her the chance to come in from the second line when the defense is uncertain. This is no coincidence, as the numbers back it up: goals, assists, and individual duels won are the result of the quiet but intense work of the Rojiblanca number 30.
In a high-caliber match like this Sunday's, Chivas Femenil will have to use all its weapons, and we certainly cannot rule out the possibility that the law of the ex will come into play at the Hidalgo Stadium.
