Having been the starting goalkeeper for much of the season in the midst of Yvon Mvogo’s long-term injury, Vito Mannone lost his spot in the Lorient starting eleven this spring when the Swiss international returned from his knee issue.
Now, Mvogo is expected to retain his place going into next season, even if there is uncertainty surrounding the future of head coach Régis Le Bris amid interest from Nice. As a result, Mannone has told the upper management that he will be looking to leave, according to Ouest-France.
The former Arsenal man, who arrived last summer from Monaco, has seen his contract automatically renewed as the club has avoided relegation. However, he would like to gain more playing time, and is now said to be actively looking for a new project. Ouest-France indicate that the Italian would not be against a return to his home country, which he first left as a teenager to join the Gunners.
