Vitor Roque has not been named in the squad and did not travel for Wednesday’s 19:30 match at Coritiba’s Couto Pereira, according to Globo.com.
Felipe Anderson also stayed behind. Youth forwards Miguel Bilong, Riquelme Fillipi and Heittor have been included in the travelling party.
Roque is in physical transition and has been training full time at Palmeiras. The club are handling his return cautiously, though he had been taking part in sessions without restrictions and was fully integrated with the squad.
He progressed faster than expected during the World Cup pause, giving up his holidays to work with the club’s Health and Performance unit at the Academia de Futebol.
He is being prepared to return to action with no major restrictions at the start of August.
The striker underwent surgery in early May after a ligament injury in his ankle. Pain in the area dated back to the Campeonato Paulista, and he has missed more than half of Palmeiras’ matches this season.
He has featured in 18 games this year, scoring six goals and providing one assist.
In Curitiba, Palmeiras will defend top spot in the Campeonato Brasileiro, where their lead stands at seven points over second place.
