Walid Regragui is expected to learn his fate imminently as Morocco's federation met on Thursday to decide his future.

According to L'Équipe, the federation is expected to confirm the end of his tenure after he asked to leave following the Africa Cup of Nations.

The 50-year-old has been worn down by four years in charge. He wanted to step aside after the tournament, but the federation delayed while seeking a successor.

After weeks of searching, Mohamed Ouahbi, coach of the Under-20 world champions, has emerged as the leading candidate. His appointment would release Regragui from his contract.

A decision is expected very soon, which could allow the new coach to take charge for March friendlies.
