Walsall sign Huddersfield’s Antony Evans on season-long loan | OneFootball

Walsall have signed attacking midfielder Antony Evans on a season-long loan from League One Huddersfield Town.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 27-year-old reunites with head coach Lee Grant after their time together at Huddersfield last term.

Evans said he needed games under his belt, knows the manager well and is looking forward to getting going. He noted that injuries meant he did not play under Grant at Huddersfield, but the chance to work with him was a major factor in the move.

He described himself as an all-rounder, full of energy, who likes to get stuck in, create chances and score. He has been following Walsall’s results and hopes to add to a strong start and contribute where possible.

He scored two goals and provided eight assists in 46 appearances across two seasons with the Terriers. Before that he produced 26 goals and 26 assists in 142 appearances for Bristol Rovers, winning promotion to League One in 2022.

An Everton academy graduate, he has also spent time with Morecambe, Crewe Alexandra, Blackpool and Paderborn in Germany.

Grant said he had no hesitation bringing Evans in after their previous work together, calling him imposing with size and physicality and highlighting his quality on the ball. Evans is Walsall’s 15th signing of the summer window and their first on transfer deadline day.
