Walsall head coach Lee Grant says Harry Williams’ Achilles rehabilitation is progressing to plan as the defender continues his comeback from a long-term injury.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, Williams tore his Achilles during the League Two play-off final defeat to AFC Wimbledon in May 2025 and has not featured since.
The 24-year-old had aimed to return before the end of last season, but suffered a further setback. Grant declined to put a timeframe on a comeback in the summer, though his latest update points to steady progress.
Grant said the programme is absolutely to plan, with positive weeks accumulating, and stressed the importance of ticking off each milestone. He highlighted strength work, initial exposure to the grass and the player’s mentality as key factors.
Williams has made 56 appearances and scored three goals for Walsall since arriving from non-league Alvechurch in 2023. He signed a new two-year contract with an option of a further 12 months last year, which is due to expire next summer, with Walsall able to trigger the option year.
