Amos Wanjala, the Valencia Mestalla centre-back born in 2005, has been named in Kenya’s senior squad by head coach Benni McCarthy, according to Superdeporte.

He will join Kenya for 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Eritrea and Guinea.

Wanjala joined Valencia’s academy in the last winter window. This is his first senior call-up after representing his country at youth level, notably at under-20.

His selection continues a steady stream of international recognition for the Valencia academy. In 2025/26, 30 players received call-ups across Europe, America and Africa.

Current youth internationals include Hugo Álvarez for Spain U15, Gabidolla Orazaly for Kazakhstan U15 and Jackson 'Papo' Gordon for United States U16.

Yulian Mosquera is with Spain U16, Enzo Fuster with Spain U17, Santi del Río Piñeiro with Canada U17, and Marc Martínez and Iker Herrera with Spain U18.

Alain Gómez has joined Argentina U20, while in the women’s set-up Carmen Matas is with Spain U15 and Rocío Pardo with Spain U17. Wanjala is currently the only senior international outside the first team.
