Liam Rosenior was asked about Alejandro Garnacho’s form in his press conference earlier this week, with the quotes just having come out.
The coach admitted that the winger’s horror show in the first half against West Ham wasn’t good enough.

“Ale would be the first to say maybe his performance wasn’t at his level in the West Ham game, but there were many collective things, and our performance in that first half wasn’t good enough,” Rosenior said.
“That game’s gone, it’s finished. I know Garna is an outstanding player, that’s why he’s here. He has many more good times to come.
“At Arsenal, when he came on, I saw Garna take the game forward. I saw him reach really good positions. He’s one-v-one against one of the best one-v-one defenders in world football – we were playing against a good team on Tuesday night.
“He creates a threat in terms of his movement. He’s got my full backing; I’ll always defend my players. He just needs to get some games and some rhythm, which is difficult at the moment because of the amount of changes we’re making. But I back him to have a really good second half of the season.”
We really believe all that – that Rosenior thinks it was a one off, and that he’s keen to give Garnacho more chances. With Jamie Gittens now out injured, those chances could be coming even more regularly.
Our predicted XI for today’s game is out, and there are some interesting decisions for the manager to make. Our best guess is a strong team with rotation at the back.
Rosenior also bigged up Andrey Santos – although that’s far easier to do given he’s in much better form at the moment. He’s gradually turning into one of the big winners from this season for Chelsea.
