Good news for Barcelona fans as Brazilian prepares to complete move from Arsenal

It is understood that talks between the Premier League and LaLiga champions have progressed quickly and a full final agreement is expected to be reached.

Arsenal have been open to selling Jesus, who has entered the final year of his contract, all summer and initially valued the 29-year-old at around £20million amid links to Napoli.

However, the Gunners have lowered that asking price in order to complete and Jesus has already travelled to Spain to undergo a medical ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

Upon being greeted by reporters at the airport on Monday, Jesus gave an update before taking those medical tests.

A translation reads: “The knee is perfect and I want to score lots of goals.”

Jesus has suffered two serious knee injuries during his time at Arsenal, rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee against Manchester United in January 2025.

After 11 months on the sidelines, the Brazil returned to action as a substitute in the Champions League against Club Brugge and has stayed clear of injuries ever since.

Left out of Arsenal’s matchday squads this season and training away from the first-team, Mikel Arteta insisted the decision was not fitness-related.

"It's something to do with the numbers that we have in the squad at the moment," Arteta said in the pre-Aston Villa press conference.

"And the way we are managing that kind of situation individually with all the players that have some personal situations."
