This year we visited both Instabul and Marrakech and the number of Hoops shirts being worn by locals in both cities was eye-opening. Much of that of course is down to the Green Brigade as the Celtic brand has clearly been strengthened by the campaigning done by the Celtic Ultras in their unwavering support of the Palestinian people.
Anyway here’s another example of a Celtic shirt appearing in an unlikely setting down in the south-west corner of France at a flashmob dance rehearsal in Anglet…
With more than 15 years of experience in entertainment, cinema, television and fashion, Brice Larrieu dancer and choreographer better, known under the name of Skorpion, has a multidisciplinary background (classical, contemporary, ballroom dance and hip hop).
His wisely designed visuals are driven by the power of movement, his intention and all that it conveys. Always looking for a unique aesthetic in the creation process, he is recognised for his hybrid gestures, and he easily crosses the boundaries of dance by choreographing new disciplines such as freerun, longboard dancing, skateboarding or by working on the writing of by performers acts (Cirque du Soleil, Cirque de Paname).
Skorpion is the choreographer for a flashmob dance show in Anglet (which is right next to Biarritz in the French side of the Basque Country) next Saturday and this week he’s been leading rehearsals for the show and it’s certainly energetic!
All very interesting you’re probably thinking but what has this all got to do with CELTIC? A very good question so let’s explain. Watch this video of Skorpion in action at the flashmob event rehearsals and you’ll see for yourselves…
My better half actually noticed this last night and commented on one of several videos posted on Facebook by Ville d’Anglet (local authority) about their upcoming show.
Karen Faulds – “Bravo! En plus, il y a un homme qui porte le maillot de Glasgow Celtic!! 🏴🍀🇫🇷” (Well, done and what’s more there’s a guy wearing a Celtic shirt!!).
Ville d’Anglet – “Karen Faulds c’est le chorégraphe @skorpion dancer – Brice Larrieu ; et samedi prochain c’est tous en rose 😉 Bonne journée, #Anglet #VilleAnglet. (It’s the choreographer Brice Larrieu and so next Saturday they’ll all be in pink. Have a nice day!)
Karen Faulds – Ville d’Anglet Fantastique!!
Beautiful part of France down there on the Atlantic coast, the beach and the waves are incredible and you might even spot someone wearing the Hoops! Happens everywhere you go really!
