Wayne Rooney hails Real Madrid star after World Cup display | OneFootball

Manchester United and England legend Wayne Rooney has this weekend moved to lavish praise on Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham.

This comes fresh off the latter’s latest starring performance on the international front.

England were of course back in action late on Saturday night, locking horns with Panama in a World Cup group stage clash.

The Three Lions endured a surprisingly tough time of things in breaking their opponents down, as Panama managed to hold out until the hour mark.

It was the aforementioned Jude Bellingham, though, who ultimately made the breakthrough, slotting home from a corner kick from the left.

The midfielder then laid on the assist for Harry Kane’s clincher, too, in a Man of the Match performance in New York.

Whilst discussing his country’s latest World Cup showing as part of his punditry role for the BBC early on Sunday, Wayne Rooney was therefore quick to reveal his deep appreciation for Bellingham’s talents:

“Jude Bellingham? When it’s a difficult situation, you need that player to drag the team through it. Steven Gerrard, Roy Keane and Jude Bellingham are players who come to mind in those situations.”
