Harry Kane has come to stay – if Max Eberl has his way. Speaking ahead of the Champions League match against Arsenal, the FC Bayern sporting director spoke about the future of the English superstar and found words that leave no room for interpretation. Kane is not only in outstanding form, but has also developed into a complete player in Munich.

Speaking to DAZN, Eberl confirmed the impression that many Bayern fans have had for weeks: the Three Lions captain is playing at a level that is exceptional even by his standards. „Harry is simply in the form of his life,“ explained Eberl, making it clear just how important the 32-year-old currently is for the German record champions.

Kane feels extremely comfortable – not only within the team, but also in FC Bayern’s entire playing concept. Eberl praised the mixture in the team, which benefits the goalscorer and allows him to grow into a role that goes far beyond just scoring goals.

From goal scorer to complete player

When Kane moved from Tottenham to Munich in the summer of 2023, he was regarded as one of the best finishing players in the world. But Eberl sees the attacker’s development at FC Bayern as another step forward. „He was more of a pure goalscorer when he came from the island. Now he has developed into a goalscorer who plays, who is a playmaker, who even makes his tackles defensively,“ he explained. It is a rare total package that Kane embodies – and one that makes FC Bayern even more unpredictable on the European stage.

Eberl’s words leave no doubt as to how much the club values the Englishman: „For me, a complete player who has developed even at such an advanced age.“

Kane extension? Eberl: „What speaks against it?“

Eberl responded to the question of whether Bayern are aiming to extend his contract soon with a smile. The timing has already been roughly determined – and they are hoping for a quick agreement, similar to that with coach Vincent Kompany. „That would be nice, that would be very nice,“ emphasized the 52-year-old.

At the same time, he made it clear that Kane feels very much at home in Munich: „He feels great, we love him, he feels good in Munich – so what’s wrong with that?“ It was one of the clearest sentences of the entire interview and a sign that FC Bayern and Kane see a long-term perspective together.

Eberl also commented clearly on the comparisons made by Uli Hoeneß, who already puts Kane in the same league as Gerd Müller, Robert Lewandowski and Giovane Élber. In his view, Kane has long been part of this exclusive circle. „I don’t think you have to put a shelf in between,“ he said. „Harry belongs there seamlessly, what he has achieved over a decade and how he is still developing now.“
